If there is one plant that works for everything, it is aloe vera (or aloe vera). Among the properties of aloe vera, we find that it is an excellent cleanser to be taken on an empty stomach, to soothe burns, to combat dandruff and, among other things, to reduce inflammation of the gums. But without a doubt, aloe vera is a very precious plant in beauty thanks to its ability to regenerate and improve the appearance of the skin. In this article you will find a list of all the properties of aloe vera for the skin, how to make it and some recipes for aloe vera gel masks at home.
What is aloe vera for?
One of the components of aloe vera is lignin. Lignin is a natural polymer that penetrates into the deepest layers of the skin and makes the rest of the aloe vera substances more effective. In this way vitamins, amino acids and polysaccharides penetrate the skin and act as a barrier against water loss.
Aloe vera has the ability to produce plastic fibers. These fibers are found in our dermis, but aloe vera produces them 7 to 8 times faster than normal. These are responsible for the production of collagen, which acts as a "mattress" on the fibers of the dermis, restoring volume and elasticity to the skin.
For cleansing the skin:
Aloe Vera can be used to cleanse the skin. Another characteristic of aloe vera is that it helps the sebaceous glands to regulate themselves and not produce more oil than necessary, it regulates the pH of the skin through its content of amino acids and other elements, stimulates the proliferation of epithelial cells, regenerates and renews the skin and cleanses the pores in depth. It also has a bactericidal effect.
The trick! If you want to make a soap from aloe vera, use it:
- aloe vera gel
- Two tablespoons of almond oil
- One tablespoon of neutral liquid soap
- 5 to 10 drops of essential lavender oil for soothing effect
Make small circular massages and remove with warm water. Then continue with your usual facial treatment.
As we have already mentioned, aloe vera has natural antibiotic and anti-fungal properties, thanks to the substance called anthraquinone, can prevent and heal the acne present in the skin.
For skin care:
Another characteristic of aloe vera is the nutrition of the skin. This is due to the content of amino acids, vitamins and polysaccharides. In this way, the epithelial and subepithelial cells benefit, stimulate and regenerate all cells involved in the process.
Skin burns and after the sun:
Aloe Vera has always been used to relieve burns (sunburn and house burn) and as an after-sun cream. The ability to regenerate the skin makes it a perfect ally in these situations and helps the skin to recover after this type of aggression.
If you have burned yourself, you have two ways to use an aloe vera plant, some consistent leaves at the end of the plant. Be careful with the thorns of the plant so you don't get punctured. Cut the leaves in half and take them out with a knife. You can make a filling and place it directly on the wound with a gauze.
You can also use an Aloe Vera Gel, pay attention to the composition and get a 100% Aloe Vera Gel (like our Aloe Vera Gel).
Reduction of the appearance of stretch marks:
Stretch marks are fractures in the elastic fibers of the skin, which are initially pink and lighten over time.
Another characteristic of aloe vera is the prevention and improvement of the appearance of stretch marks on the skin. Aloe vera helps to increase the elasticity of the skin as it nourishes it deeply.
Smoother after saving:
Aloe Vera is a great for skin regeneration. Helps to calm them after an electric or wax and prevents redness. During blade hair removal, it also helps to remove impurities and thus prevent small infections in the hair follicle.
How to use Aloe Vera
Straight from the plantation:
If you have an aloe vera or aloe vera plant at home, you can extract the pulp with the fresh leaves and use it for facials, plaster, masks or even baths. Simply cut off the leaves at the base. Make a cut at the tip and two at the ends to remove the bones. Next, remove the gelatinous substance you find inside with a knife. This gel should be kept in a bottle in the refrigerator so that it does not lose its properties and you must use it for the next seven days.
Aloe Vera gel:
If you do not have an aloe vera plant at home, you can use an aloe vera gel. Remember to check the ingredients when you buy it, check that the first ingredient is Aloe Barbadensis, as many gels on the market do not have a high composition of Aloe Vera. If you want to bet on the safe, you can buy Aloe Vera Gel Aloe Olé, 100% natural (without parabens and from organic cultivation).
